Castlevania Animated Series Features a StarStudded Cast

first_imgStay on target We’re a little over a week away from the premiere of Netflix’s Castlevania animated series. We still don’t have too many details about the show, but it is looking pretty good based on the most recent trailer Now, the voices behind the characters have been revealed. If these actors are anything to go by, it seems Netflix is taking this program very seriously. We won’t be stuck with god-awful voice-over work as some (mainly me) have feared.Richard Armitage, who you may know as Thorin Oakenshield from The Hobbit trilogy, will star as vampire hunter Trevor Belmont. Playing Dracula’s son, Alucard, is James Callis, who Battlestar Galactica fans will remember as Dr. Gaius Baltar. Dracula will be played by another The Hobbit star, Graham McTavish. Finally, The Mentalist and Supernatural alum Emily Swallow will take on the role of Dracula’s wife and Alucar’s mother, Lisa Tepes.Written by famed comic book scribe, Warren Ellis, this series is based on the story line for Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. According to producer Adi Shankar, the show is “very much Castlevania done in the vein of Game of Thrones and that it will be “R-rated as f**k.” As for the show’s quality, Shankar says: “I personally guarantee that it will end the streak and be the western world’s first good video game adaptation.”As a long-time Castlevania fan, I am both excited and worried about this series. As I said before, most video game adaptations don’t turn out so well. Castlevania could be another in a long line of failed game adaptations. On the other hand, it could also be a stellar series. Given the talent behind it, there seems to be a good chance this will be a kick-ass show. I guess we’ll all find out together when the series premieres on July 7.Let us know what you like about Geek by taking our survey.
